Вот мы подошли к главному и самому интересному вопросу в звукозаписи - отличие сингла от лонгплея...
LP (англ. Long Play, LP от long-playing — долгоиграющий) - формат звукозаписи на грампластинках для воспроизведения при скорости вращения диска 33⅓ об/мин; обеспечивает гораздо более длительное воспроизведение, чем формат с меньшей плотностью записи, рассчитанный на скорость вращения 78 об/мин. Также — грампластинка (обычно 12-дюймовая), записанная в таком формате.
Сингл (англ. Single от Single Play record) — изначально грампластинка, на каждой стороне которой помещалась только одна музыкальная композиция. Термин «сингл» появился в 1950-е гг., чтобы обозначить различие между долгоиграющими и одно-, двухпесенными пластинками. С 1957 года большинство американских лейблов стали выпускать синглы исключительно в формате 45 об./мин. На первой стороне сингла в данном формате помещается заглавная песня, — прежде, в основном, предназначаемая для проигрыша на радиостанциях и в музыкальных автоматах (данные по проигрышу составляли один из критериев хит-парадов), при этом оборотная сторона сингла практически не игралась. Часто явного указания, какая сторона первая, а какая — вторая, не было. Оттого название сингла не всегда определяется заглавием песни на первой стороне (более того, многие синглы имеют специальное название, не совпадающее ни с одной песней на пластинке). Оборотные стороны синглов традиционно отдавались либо инструментальным версиям заглавной песни, либо композициям, не рассчитанным на коммерческий успех.

Теперь хочу еще раз и более конкретно ответить уважаемому kes, чтобы он не считал Vvche неграмотным в той теме, которую тот открыл. One-hit wonders - это название темы, но есть ещё термин - Two-hit wonders (или Two-hit titans)... Но это дальше...

Давайте всё-таки не будем путаться между песней и альбомом... Чем Вас, ccrr, и Вас, kes, не устраивает американский чарт? Давайте возьмём новозеландский или австралийский - там будут другие исполнители, а если возьмём российский - совсем другие...

Интересно, какие многие другие могут сравниться с простой страной Америкой? Я, конечно, не всё понимаю... Но я понимаю, что таких стран, как США, пока больше нет. И в музыкальном смысле тоже... И в кинематографе... И в науке... И в любви к своей Родине... Да почти во всём. Это Великая страна, страна свободных людей и свободы мысли... Она для этого и была создана. А мы с вами живём и будем жить в рабской стране, потому что сами рабы. Зато гордые и смотрящие на всех свысока... Но с ошейником на шее.

Если Вы имеете в виду американских индейцев - то да, у них другие музыкальные вкусы. У негров - тоже отличается от европеоидов... И китайцев - тоже своё восприятие... А у европейских переселенцев - такое же точно, как и на старой родине... У итальянцев - итальянское, ирландцев - ирландское, французов - французское, русских - русское, испанцев - испанское, англичан - английское и т.д. и т.п. А у нас в РФ - у якутов - якутское, у разных дагестанцев - разное дагестанское, у чувашей - чувашское, у татар - татарское (причем, разное, потому что татары - разные), у осетин - осетинское и т.д. и т.п. А в американский чарт (на самом деле) попасть труднее всего... Почти также трудно, как попасть в чарт тюменский...
